ECO’s mission is to preserve and protect wildlife and their habitats across Tanzania by engaging local communities and conservation-minded partners
Established in 2020, ECO aims to work with government entities and communities to improve elephant security in Tanzania. Our focus begins by addressing an immediate need with a model that has been widely successful in protecting elephants in neighbouring Kenya: a modern mobile wildlife vet unit
WHERE WE OPERATE
While based in an area that borders the Tarangire and the Serengeti National Park, ECO will operate throughout Tanzania
The Serengeti-Mara Ecosystem, spanning Tanzania and Kenya, is one of the most important elephant and rhino habitats in East Africa. ECO is located in the wildlife management area of Loliondo, that is surrounded by unprotected community land resulting in increased chances of wildlife injuries and death. Through our mobile vet unit, ECO will operate in this area to address the most pressing need while also expanding operations into the Serengeti, east to Lake Natron and eventually span the entire country
